Labels:text | cartoon OCR: Conductivity: The apparatus pictured is used to determine how well a liquid conducts electricity. If a liquid is a good conductor, the bulb will glow brightly when the electrodes are dipped into the solution. This indicates that the liquid is a strong electrolyte. If the bulb is dim when the electrodes are immersed in the liquid, the the solution is a weak electrolyte. If the bulb does not show any sign of electricity flowing thru the wire, then the liquid is a poor con- ductor of electricity and can be classified as a nonelectrolyte. Acids, bases, and salts make up the electrolytes. Molecules like sugar and urea are examples of nonelectrolytes.
